Behind the Scenes of a Shop 112 Photoshoot.

2:18 PM

Where do we take our photos?
Photoshoots take place on Wednesday for Shop 112, and typically start at 8:30 am at our warehouse location. The day before my boss, Monique, and myself set up the rack and pick the clothing based on how that week will be, whether its going to be cold, warm, we are going to have a sale, or based on what customers have been requesting! We are lucky to have a warehouse with simple colored walls to use as backgrounds so we don't have to drive around and looks for spots (unless we want a really cool photo we travel).

Who models?
Normally there is three models total, including myself as one of those three. It'll be myself, another one of my co-workers (we change it up weekly), and Angelina, our professional model. We typically separate the outfits evenly, because as FUN as modeling seems, it's actually quite tiring!

How long do these shoots last?
Photoshoots last until about noon then it's clean up time, and back to organizing all the shoes back in their box, all the clothes back on the rack, and all the jewelry put back to take everything to the store to be ready to purchase! So about 4-ish hours.

What happens after photoshoots?
After photoshoots, comes the most intense part, EDITING! We take about 120 photos a session, so editing is VERY time consuming! Our online website requires more photos than just our Instagram page, so editing now takes normally 4 days to do or so. My partner, Emma and myself, split the photos because doing all those photos I feel would drive someone crazy! We have a lovely social media office (pictured above) where we edit photos. We try to have them ready typically by Monday, latest Tuesday then they get sent to our Online Website Manager Yolanda, who puts them online to be ready to go live, and be purchased.

...then it's Wednesday all over again, and it's time to do it again!

3:05 PM

That time is here again, where it's time to start thinking what am I going to get my girlfriends?! Gift exchanges are coming up, and it's time to start shopping. I put together a compilation of cute gifts I would get my girlfriends, and ideas on what maybe to get your own! Whether it's similar or different I'm linking all these items below in case you'd like to get one of these gifts for YOUR friends. All are super affordable and I love getting a couple of gifts for my girlfriends rather than one big gift, I like getting like 3 or 4 nice small gifts that can be used everyday! Here is my list:

{click bold items to shop!}
+ Wine Glasses: As I grow older, wine is becoming more tasteful as I find my own favorite bottles. At first I was like, "whoa, give me a flavored marg please!!" But when you see the calories in one of those babies.. I quickly checked those off my items to order (lol). I find it useful to always have wine glasses in the apt. because if you have guests who bring a bottle of wine, it's important to serve them in one! Also, how cute are these "besties glasses" to share a bottle together!
+ Jewelry Tray: I'm such an organized person, maybe too much, but when it comes to my jewelry I always have to have it together! I can't just have it thrown around (my OCD kicks in), so I LOVE jewelry trays to keep things organized! The more the better. This one is only $9.99 from Amazon, but you can find these really anywhere!
+ Bath Bombs: These can be SO fun, normally found at Lush, these can now found anywhere! Target has some really good ones, the ones I linked have adorable surprises found inside once it dissolves. Too fun.
+ Clutches (1)(2): A clutch can be used anytime and always! I love to use these for dinner with girlfriends or when I'm going out and I do not want to lug around a big purse. Both of these are less than $15!
+ Candles: Who doesn't want a good smelling living room or bedroom?! I am obsessed with candles, and always have to have one burning in the apt. I love sweet scents, such as vanilla, or vanilla cinnamon, pumpkin pie ... something sweet and comforting. Bath & Body Works always has nice smelling candles, or Target as well!
+ NYX Lipstick Set: I recently tried out NYX Matte Collection, and I'm obsessed! They are a perfect matte, don't dry out your lips, and stay on for hours, even after eating. So affordable, and a gift set would be so ideal for a gift! Only $15, for a set of 3.
+ Coffee Mugs: If your friend is a coffee lover, or even tea... mugs are life. I have plenty of mugs, and love collecting them when I travel. They will always be used, and Target always has my favorite ones!
+ Fleece Throw: If you're like me and get cold all the time at home, a fleece throw is the best to have around the living room! I love cuddling up, and watching TV under a blanket. This one is less than $16! Also great for decor to have thrown on the couch.

Fall is here!

3:19 PM

Fall is officially here!! Although deep in the heart of Texas, we are still feeling the 90 degree temperatures, we are still excited and ready to start a new season. I love fall weather, the cool nights are so perfect to go sit outside and enjoy dinner or a delicious beer.
For fall, I normally crave the same fashion: booties, maroon lipsticks, warm coffee (I normally drink iced), pumpkin scented candles, opaque tights and chunky bright earrings.
This year is similar, BUT I'm hoping to go with more bold styles and patterns. I want to wear sequin booties (I'm hoping my boss orders some for the store!!), chunky crazy sweaters, and put tights under everything. I'm always into darker lipsticks year round, but I guess it feels more acceptable to wear it in the fall season. I can't wait for that first cool front to drop down here! In the meantime, I'll just keep getting my fall wardrobe ready.

Links to everything pictured below:

Sweaters: white sweater, mauve sweater, mustard sweater
Booties: tan booties, cheetah booties, velvet booties
Lipsticks: milani in "black cherry", maybelline in "coffee addiction"
Earrings: turquoise earrings, white fan earrings, silver chunky earrings
Candles: both are from Khols
Coffee Tumbler: "messy hair, don't care" tumbler

What are some of your fall favorites? Let me know!

Quick Trip to LA!

11:31 AM

Last week, I went on a quick trip to Los Angeles with my boss to shop for the boutique I work at. We were there for 4 days, and it was nearly not enough to see what California has to offer, I had yet to go to Cali, so I wanted to see everything! I always thought of myself more as a east coast kinda gal, but my experience in LA was really nice, I definitely enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The weather was so great, and coming from south Texas, I was mind-blown when I heard some people do not have air conditioners in their homes! That is something unheard of here where temperatures reach 115! We went down to the Hollywood area, and it was such a circus, people are crazy in that area, and it was unlike anything I had seen before (I thought Austin was weird). It was an interesting experience nonetheless, and I enjoyed the crazy people and the even crazier driving! We spent most of the time in the fashion district shopping at the stores there, and the fashion in LA was SO wonderful. I loved the effortless, free-spirited fashion everyone wasn't scared to sport. I live in a city where people are very close-minded and are not very daring with their fashion sense! Although, slowly people are catching on to the fashion world down here... it was SO cool to see people sporting big pants, and colorful tennis! I fell in love with the world of being a "buyer" and although at times it felt a little overwhelming being surrounded by boxes and boxes and walls of clothing everywhere you turn, in the end it was such a fun experience. So thankful to work with the company I work at, making my dreams come true!

Beach Essentials from Zaful!

11:22 PM

As summer is nearing to an end, there's still a couple more weeks to enjoy! I know I just got back from the beach, but I'm already planning another trip in a couple weeks with my boyfriend. I definitely will be needing a new swimsuit and right now I'm currently eyeing these swimsuits from 'Zaful', so cute, and at such an amazing price! I'm also thinking about trying out the off the shoulder bikini; of course I've gotten tops with that trend, but I have yet to try it out in a bikini style. I currently have these two on my wish list! Aren't they adorable?!

A few other things I'm eyeing to take along with me to the beach are:

--> this super cute crop top to pair with high-waisted shorts!

-->  and this super cute summer dress for walking around and having dinner.
and lastly of course, I need a simple bag to carry around that isn't too big or bulky, we're at the beach, simplicity is in full mode! I fell in love with this simple grey bag, you can carry it as a handbag or as a shoulder bag, my favorite, because I never know how I'll be feeling that day!

Beach Weekend

3:10 PM

My bosses decided to close our work this weekend and go on a beach trip getaway! Sometimes I forget how wonderful, and beautiful it is to live so close to a beach. I don't take enough advantage of it. I remember the other day watching a movie, it was about a girl who lived somewhere in the mid-west and she dreamed of the ocean, and how free and beautiful it made her feel, and I thought, some people actually don't live anywhere near a body of water!! They go there lives without being able to drive an hour away and go feel the fresh cool island breeze, sand on your toes, and sandy damp hair, how crazy! As I grow up, I'm learning to love my hometown and where I live, we live in such a great location, and the culture is so pure. It really was a relaxing weekend, full of laughs, sun, tans, and too much vodka. Here's to the end of summer!
