The month of Love.

9:58 PM

With February creeping up around the corner . . .well this weekend actually, I thought I'd put a compilation of Valentine Favs together as well as some things I think are cute to give or receive. I always like to remind people that Valentine's isn't just for couples or married folks... it can be for anyone; you can get your girlfriends together, go with your mom if it's just y'all two, your dad vis-versa. . your grandma. . anyone! It's a day about love about being with who you love, no matter who it is. Show them you appreciate them, show them you care about them, whether it's a gift or just some flowers, a balloon or chocolates. It's a day about being reminded to be kind to everyone, smile, and cheer someone up, because most people "hate" this holiday because they may be alone or heartbroken and think in a negative way because this holiday is focused on couples... but I wish people wouldn't see it that way.

Cold, Gloomy, Weather, Rant, Blah

6:11 PM

Lately, these past couple days, the weather hasn't been very nice to the 956, it's been so so so cold and overcast. I mean I love cold weather, and wish every day could be 50/60 degrees, but this 40 & 30 degree weather is slowly killing me. The nights have been freezing lately, with freeze warning, my little body can't take it! It also makes me extremely lazy and I wish I could just stay in my warmups & a long sleeve all day, cuddled with Nylon & Dino under the blankets. Walking to school feels like a challenge, trying to race my way to class (without looking silly), but still trying to just get inside to the warmth and all the tree's are lifeless! I may sound like I'm being a little wimp, but hey, I'm from South Texas, where the weather is 100+ degree's 3/4ths of the year. Also it has been bipolar, literally 80 degree's Monday and Tuesday night chances of snow, jeez, I just can't. Although, I've been complaining to myself lately, I must enjoy this while it lasts. . .because as soon as I know it, I'll be sad that it's 109 degrees outside, and I'll wish for the beautiful cold again.
Along with being to cold to bring up a new post, I've been pretty busy with school, and trying to keep up with my readings while I can, so been busy doing that . .Hopefully soon I can post about some new purchases I've gotten. Hope y'all are staying warm! I know it's very cold everywhere else too.

My diet and a little more. . .

1:04 PM

I've always been conscious about what I eat, probably didn't start till about my sophomore year of high school but ever since then I've gone through phases about what I eat. I don't consider myself small or thin, because I wasn't always this way. I used to be chubby almost fat-like when I was younger up until my freshmen year of high school. After something switched on in my head I became aware of my body, I don't know what it was that the light turned on but I became aware about what was being put into my body.
At first, I started "counting calories" you can say, yes, at the young age of 16. I would only eat grilled chicken salads, turkey breast sandwiches w/ wheat bread, fishes, everything was just grilled. I got a hold of all the coffee's I drank at Starbucks and got a hold of their calories, after I saw how much a frappucino had w/ whip had .. I didn't get one again.
..then I probably took it too far once I saw the weight fall off me, I didn't want to eat anymore, if I did I'd get scared and nervous, I'd want to throw up. I found ways to make myself eat as little as I could and was doing things very, very, wrong.
Getting past that stage which was borderline anorexia/bulimia (I wouldn't say I actually was) I started to eat healthy again. Cutting out diet cokes, sugars, too many sweets, and processed foods.
Then in my sophomore year of college I became vegan. I changed from one day to the next, which wasn't too hard because I didn't eat too much meat to begin with. I watched videos and it made me not want to eat meat again, then I read books and realized it's actually not healthy for us at all. I absolutely LOVE being vegan, it makes me feel powerful because not everyone can do it. Yes, it's a consistent work in process, occasionally I'll eat something that's vegetarian and not vegan but it's a learning process that never ends. I enjoy helping people eat healthy, I feel like I've almost "been through it all" eating wise. I've counted calories, starved myself, ate healthy, and now I'm vegan, the only thing I haven't done is "bulked up" so don't ask me for that, ha.
Eating healthy is a beautiful lifestyle and truly does make you feel good inside and out. You notice changes like your hair being shiner, you skin complexion being more clear, and you don't feel as bloated as often!
I bring all this up because yes, I'm vegan but there are some bad vegan foods too, I tend to indulge in every once and a while (a little too much pickles & sour patch kids) making me feel gross and unclean. I remind myself occasionally when I feel like this to eat clean again. Lots of fruits, veggies, greens, tea, and things that I know make me feel good about my body. Also working out, that's a HUGE must in everyone's life. With our busy daily schedule's it sometimes feels impossible to do a quick work out, but when you do it feels so lovely. This is a reminder to myself to start eating clean again, because with the holidays I slacked a little and ate the not so good vegan foods. I also hope maybe it can make you aware too of what you eat. . .because I promise it really makes you feel better, even if it's just one meal you substitute for your greens and veggies or even an occasional vegetarian meal as well as squeezing a work out into your day, all these things will make you feel better.

Working from Home.

4:50 PM

When it comes to getting work done & studying, I'm ALL about going to a coffee shop, setting my things up, getting comfy, putting up a playlist & study while drinking a good cup. Although I get the most done when I'm not home or near my bed, every once in a while it feels nice to work from your room on your bed! You get to be in pj bottoms and barefoot if you want, also it saves buying $4 soy latte's every other day! Today that is exactly what I'm doing: setting up on my bed, making myself a iced green tea in a mason jar (is there any other way to drink tea?) and making myself comfy, while still getting work done. With my furry companions by my side to keep me awake, working from home every once and a while isn't so bad.

Last weekend before school.

1:42 PM

Goodbye holiday decor, hello pink & red everywhere !
just in time for spring semester, couldn't be happier with the look I chose.
days off together ALWAYS include shopping, plus a little green tea lemonade from SB to keep me quenched, my fav drink from there!
my manager invited me out this Saturday, was well needed, plus dancing, that always gets me in the jolliest of moods.
so this weekend was the last weekend before spring semester 2014 starts, had to put myself back in the school mentality which involves me telling myself over and over, "no more being lazy all day!" I really enjoyed my weekend before a new semester, ready to have a good mentality towards my school work, pass all my classes (and hopefully NO "C's") and study all I can. As I get closer and closer to the end of my college years, I always get more and more excited to finally graduate. Here's to another year!

Valentine's Already?

12:37 AM

Valentine's decor up at Target already, and I know it's a little early for that but I'm guilty of BARELY taking down our faux Christmas tree at the apartment because I was so in denial that the holiday's are over! It made me sad but decorating the house in Valentine's stuff made it a little easier. Well the winter break is coming to an end as well, and it breaks my heart but I think I'm ready to begin a new semester because that only means I'm closer to finishing and I absolutely can NOT wait to graduate! So going to enjoy these last three days of school free worrying till Monday and make the most of them.

On another note, I'm thankful for everyone who reads/views my page.  . .I'm up to 12 thousand views! That is so incredible to me! So much thanks to you all and I'm glad you enjoy my blog.

New Heels.

10:09 PM

So these bad boys pictured above are the heels I purchased tonight at Target for only $16! What a steal right? Now I'm just figuring out ways to style them, two ways are pictured above and an "edgy" way & a "feminine" way. I absolutely love both ways, and hope to wear them soon, they are so gorgeous!

Date Nights.

4:03 PM

Last week Elias and I got into a really (or what I felt it to be) ugly argument. After that I felt we needed some rejuvenation, five years being together, you just get so used to doing things a certain way, sort of a daily schedule. So I suggested to him we could use a date night, let's get dressed up nicely (instead of always seeing each other in our work clothes or pj's) and let's head out to dinner, go to a movie, get a coffee at Barnes & Noble together, anything that involves doing things we both enjoy. He agreed we could use one and I was quite happy and surprised because Elias isn't too much of a man to love being out in public, he's very much introverted and would rather spend time at home watching movies. We broke it up into two days and we went out for dinner & shopping the first; the second day we went to the movies to watch a movie he's been anticipating, The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug. It was good for both of us because each thing we did there was something for both of us to like as well as the fact we're doing it together. Five years later and I'm very thankful to have Elias as my man, yes we have our ups and downs, but I'm glad we can work out the downs together to come back up again.
